Coaching session (current & future)

Just a reminder that there is a track session at Norman Park on Saturday morning at 10am. The track costs £3 to use. Please bring a watch to time your reps and recoveries.
We are trying to agree some dates for April which is proving a bit tricky with various holidays. One date which is fixed is Saturday 25th April which will be a track session at Norman Park. Those running the London Marathon the next day are welcome to come and help time – might help take your mind off the impending event!  Helen

New look running site

Welcome to the new Beckenham Running Club website. I hope you like it, and more importantly, find it useful. Paid up members are welcome to sign-up for a free account and start posting news, comments, and articles that you think will be of interest to other members (or even to other runners outside our club). If you are wondering what to do next then please read my help page.

If you have any comments or suggestions then please feel free to comment on this post using the link below – I will endeavour to accommodate as many requests as possible.

Over time I will migrate many of the helpful pages from our old site to the pages here, but for now you can still access the old pages here.

Abingdon Marathon

If anyone is interested in entering an Autumn marathon without the expense of traveling to Europe, a couple of us have entered this one held on 18 October. Wondered if anyone else wanted a Beckenham day/weekend out….?

It’s close to Oxford and held by a running club, but gets good reviews. It’s also a flat fast course so good for a PB. If your interested enter sooner rather than later as it does fill up early.

Cheers

Grand Prix change in June and Thames Towpath 10

It has been suggested that we use the Dulwich midsummer 5k as an alternative to the Eltham Park 5 which we can’t do because it clashes with our very own Beckenham 10k.

This will introduce a shorter race into the championship for the sprinters amongst us to benefit.

Please note that this is on a Wednesday night (the 24th June) which is unfortunately only 3 days after the Orpington 10k.

Also, the next Grand Prix fixture is the Thames Towpath 10 mile on 19th April. Craig will take the entries tonight.

Future runner? born on Monday

It’s early days, but we may have a future runner in our midst: my wife gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl (our second), on Monday morning. Her name is Lucy, and both mum and baby are home and doing well.Lucy

Paddock Wood Half Marathon

Although off the Grand Prix circuit this year, Paddock Wood provides a relatively flat course and an opportunity for a PB. It’s on Sun 5th April. A good chance  for prospective Green Belt runners to put some miles on the legs too.
