Help page updated again
Posted by PaulP in Everything Else on April 27th, 2009
I have updated the help page again with bit more detail on how to put links to files into your posts. Some people have been having trouble getting WordPress to do this, and I agree that it’s not the most intuitive feature of the software, but hopefully you should be able to do it now. The trick is to make sure that the Link URL field is filled in by clicking on “File URL”. Read the help page for more.
Are runners getting slower?
Posted by ben in Everything Else on April 25th, 2009
Its been a long-running comment at the club that race times seem to be getting slower since the 80’s despite so many more people running.
Its nice to see a whole feature on this on the Beeb today, and as a bonus it mentions what a particularly difficult London Marathon was in 2005 – so those of us with ropey times from that year can take comfort!
Halstead marathon 10 May
Posted by Jim in Everything Else on April 20th, 2009
For anyone who’s not doing London but wishes they were, there’s still time to sign up on runnersworld for the Halstead marathon on 10 May in Essex. It’s the 3rd year i’ve done it and it’s a lovely course and a well run event and one of the runnersworld favourites. I’ll have a couple of spare places in the car. Details at runnersworld or http://halsteadroadrunners.net/

Help page updated
Posted by PaulP in Everything Else on April 11th, 2009
Glad to see that many of you are starting to post information on the site, and apologies for my tardiness in getting some of the pages from the old site moved over – it will still happen, but baby-wrangling and interrupted sleep are taking their toll at the moment, so it may be a bit slower than I would like.
After a few people asked how to put images or files into your posts on the site I have updated the help page to provide a bit more guidance on how to use the WordPress console.
Finally, apologies to those of you who have requested our club logo on the site. It will happen in due course, but after investigating how to do it, it seems that it isn’t as easy as I first thought. I too am keen to put the logo up there, so I will find a creative way to make it happen, but please bear with me while I do.
Assembly League

We got off to an encouraging start in the Assembly League. I’d like to think we can aim for a top 5 finish this year in the Men’s championship and a top 3 finish in the Women’s league. This target would exceed previous achievements in the Assembly league (certainly in this millenium) and should certainly be achievable if we get as good a turnout as last Thursday. The men’s second in the ‘B’ team also shows that the strength in depth is growing so this should keep the 1st team on their toes.
Pencil in the 7th May for the 5km (exactly) race around The Dome.
Craig.
March Handicap Results
Posted by PaulP in Club Nights & Social Runs, Handicap, Races & Reports on April 2nd, 2009
I have created a page of results from the March Handicap, and will hopefully get more up there soon. Just click on the Handicap tab and there’s a dropdown link to the results page. The next round of the Handicap is this Wednesday (7th April).
Also, if you want your race results to go into our results archive page then please email your result to our archivist Carolyn using race dot results at beckenhamrunning dot co dot uk.
