Many thanks and congratulations to everyone that ran the Beckenham 10k this morning. The race was well represented by Kent clubs competing in the Kent Grand Prix, which helped to make the race very competitive and closely fought in a number of categories. However there was no doubting who won the men’s race. Semi fresh after “jogging” a marathon in 2:58 around the Olympic marathon course last Monday, Orpington Road Runners Jason Cherriman took the win in an impressive 33:53 setting a new PB. 2nd place was Dulwich Runner Buzz Shepherd in 34:38 , with another local runner, Striders of Croydon’s Stephen Starvis in 3rd in 34:47.

The ladies race was emphatically won by Paddock Wood’s Maria Heslop in 36:54 , 2nd was Dulwich Runner, Andrea Pickup, in 39:03 and 3rd was Clapham Chaser, Rachel Bentley, in 39:14.

An undulating course of just under two laps, starting near our HQ and finishing in Beckenham Place Park, about 10 minutes’ walk back to race HQ at Beckenham Cricket Club in Foxgrove Road, BR3 5AS.

• R.R.C. measured course;
• Drinks stations;
• Parking at race HQ and surrounding residential roads;
• Changing facilities and toilets at race HQ;
• HQ conveniently located for public transport at Beckenham Junction rail, tram, and buses all close by; New Beckenham and Ravensbourne Rail within 1 mile.
• Medals to all finishers;
• Trophies in following categories:- 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd Man and Lady. 1^st MVet O/40, O/50, O/60, 1^st FVet O/35, O/45, O/55; 1^st Men’s Team, 1^st Ladies’ Team (three to qualify).
