Do Run, Can Run….

Eight weeks ago a few intrepid beginner runners answered the call Don’t Run? Can’t Run? and set out on Beckenham’s inaugural beginners’ running course.  Well, eight weeks on, we’re pleased to report that on Saturday at the Bromley Parkrun the following beginners graduated with honours, all completing the 5k course:

Congratulations go to…..

Debbie Sawyer,

Sharon Wells,

Sue Green,

and Karen Mortenson.

We hope you enjoyed yourselves and will keep on running.

We hope to run another course later in the year, keep an eye out here for further details.

*Edit: And special praises and well dones to Nicky who put in all the hard work to set it up and organise the course, and to anyone else who helped out*

Kent London Athletic Network

As you may have read in emails and heard at club announcements, Beckenham have been actively forging links with 3 local clubs, Blackheath & Bromley, Bexley and Cambridge Harriers to form the Kent London Athletic Network (KLAN) in partnership with English Athletics. The KLAN aims to grow and sustain participation levels in athletics, increase the number of volunteers involved in the sport, improve the quality of experience for all participants and at the same time raise the standard of coaching and performance levels of athletes.

A new website has just gone ‘live’ which will provide information on the network, events, competitions, coaching etc, just click on the link below. As it’s new, content is light at the moment but please feel free to suggest anything that could be put forward for inclusion.

Exciting times for Beckenham!

Coaching session (current & future)

Just a reminder that there is a track session at Norman Park on Saturday morning at 10am. The track costs £3 to use. Please bring a watch to time your reps and recoveries.
We are trying to agree some dates for April which is proving a bit tricky with various holidays. One date which is fixed is Saturday 25th April which will be a track session at Norman Park. Those running the London Marathon the next day are welcome to come and help time – might help take your mind off the impending event!  Helen
