3rd September 2007 - What a difference a season makes...

Blue route is 2007, green is 2006
A smaller group this year, thanks to the unforeseen change of date thanks to the Napoli. You can see it was a bit warmer, a bit drier, and a bit further.

12th March 2006

Billed as the "3rd toughest" run in the country, a respectable contingent of BRC runners, plus supporting cast, made it down to Seaton and Beer, and stayed in the hotel and a nearby cottage, enjoyed some great food, failed to bond with Distressed Gentledonkeys at the Distressed Gentledonkeys Home, and some kind of run.

A great mix of pics from the official photos, plus Jerry,Kai and Steve's mobile phone providing some action shots...

Jolly cold at the start, eh?  Actually jolly cold all the way round. The commentator was carried off with hypothermia. So fashion decisions ranged from "a vest" (Ian) to "long sleeved top, vest, woolly hat, woolly gloves, and (just in case) his coat" (Loyal Webmaster).

Before....

Even More Before, like, a day, or something.

There goes another one....

You can see a long chain of runners here disappearing into the mist along the beech.... Nutters, the lot of them.

Note well-wrapped spectators shivering. And laughing.

Does anyone remember the 70's version of "its a knockout"? There were two presenters, and their job was partly to give running commentary during the games, and one of them, all he could do, was laugh inanely as people fell over, slid about, bashed into barriers, etc and got black eyes, and broken collar bones etc ( what we now call the "who needs limbs 70's" ) well, whenever I see these pictures, I think of him.

"Ha ha ha. Hee hee hee. That's got to hurt.". etc.

Wearily, the long retreat from Stalingrad began. Oh, sorry, wrong website.

The Fashion shoot from Vogue, which led to the Cricket Club booking

Ruth says the group she was in decided "Send the little one in first, to see how deep it is". About that deep, then.

Loyal Webmaster, on the way to being well and truly whupped by one of the girlies.

Kate, looking unusually tense

And Jen and Jerry, from their vantage point (by a pub, note), took this good series....

No luxury facility was missing from this trip of a lifetime...

Everyone back safely. Finely-tuned racing machines, the lot.
