GBR Big Trophy Presentation
Posted by will in Everything Else on July 16th, 2010
Last night (15/7), Beckenham were invited to the Stragglers HQ in Kingston, to receive our trophy won back in May.
We reckon the group of eight of us, traveled a combined 120miles for this one minute and eight seconds moment. Was it worth it?
Of course it was! Remember where you where when you witnessed this.
In case you didn’t realise, Beckenham RC are the Green Belt Relay 2010 Mixed Team Champions. Thanks to Stragglers for the hospitality and the trophy.

Grand Prix Cliffe Woods 10k: Beckenham Team Hat Trick
Posted by Admin2 in Grand Prix, Races & Reports on July 12th, 2010
Now that Wills wetted your appetite, now for the results in all their racemaster 98 glory…
Numbers were down for this one thanks to holidays, mates weddings (I’m not boycotting the Grand Prix Honest!) and maybe the very hot weather…. But for those that went and for the for the third GP race in a row the mens and ladies teams took the team prizes, with a number of highly respectable performances. Welcomes and well dones to David Scrimshaw (41:25) and Amy Bhandari (58:10) who made their Beckenham racing debuts.
There’s abit of a summer break with the next road race on the 5th September at the Weald 10k (Sevenoaks) followed a week later by the Eridge 10 (voted Runners World no1 race for 2009!) and is part of the Cross Country Prix.
Wellington 10k

They thought they could slip this one under the radar…..
Whilst the club toiled away in the summer heat at Cliffe Woods, here’s evidence of 4 Beckenham Runners taking part in their own renegade Grand Prix at the Wellington 10 in Devon.
John, Dean, Andy & Nicky (hint: if the correct photo isn’t showing when the page loads press refresh)
Results to follow……..but I’m sure they did well (although Nicky is smiling to much to have run a 10k properly!)

Assembly League Dome race 4 of 6, July 2010
Posted by Admin2 in Assembly League, Races & Reports on July 8th, 2010
Race results for the Assembly League Dome 5.1K , the last bastion of the type writer is no more as they’ve been typed up on a computer
Race news however, the mens team did fantastically well… er not, with only Craig and Nolan running, we still sit in 6th, with an outside chance of catching Dulwich (if they fail to put out a team!), what more incentive do you need to come & run next time guys!
The ladies managed to field a team and gave it there all in the hot & humid conditions, with Anika a disturbing bright shade of red at the end and Kate ready to heave.
Next race, back to Victoria Park Thursday 12 August 2010 for a 7:15 start.
Club Handicap Latest
Over half way through this years Handicap competition, it’s time for a summary of the latest standings before next weeks race 14/7/10.
Darren leads the way after slicing another chunk of his time to set a new PB to take him to 82 points. The Aussie soap couple The Sullivan’s sit in 2nd and 3rd on 76 (John) and 71 points (Andrea). Stuart ominously for the rest sits in 4th on 67 points as he rediscovers some running form not seen since he had his ginger hair.
There’s 6 races left, so still loads of time to smash some PBs and climb up the league. Handicap standings as of June 2010
