2016 Team Relay Race Results

Results Update (22 May 2016)

The results have now been revised with time and position corrections as well as team changes that were not captured  on the night.

Results Update (20 May 2016)

We are very sorry that many of the individual times are wrong. We made what we thought would be a great idea in separating the start box from the finish box to give the time-keepers a clearer view but in fact it narrowed the finish line and there were a couple of occasions early on in the race where we did not manage to record everything correctly. This resulted in many runners being allocated a time that was not their own. We are going to try our best to remedy this but it will take a while, as it involves going through all the results again in detail. We will do this as soon as possible and publish them on our website. We cannot promise these will be entirely accurate but we hope they will iron out some of the problems.

Although individual leg times are incorrect, this does not affect the order of runners and the overall team positions are unaffected and team prizes awarded correctly.

We are pleased the Relay has increased in popularity since we moved the route from a suburban route on quite busy roads, to a more green and pleasant route to make use of Beckenham Place Park. We have not managed to keep up with the increase in numbers and find registration with teams declaring names on the night, as well as the management of the changeover box and time-keeping, particularly challenging. We tried to improve both this year asking that everyone declares their teams by 2pm but we still had many changes on the night to make.

For as long as people want to run the Relay, we will continue to look at improving it and we will be looking at the feasibility of getting chip timing brought in. We really don’t want to have to reduce the number of teams allowed to enter, so hope that we can work things out for a less stressful 2017 race for us and definitely a more satisfying time for all of you that support this Relay.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,
Nicky
