Henfield Half Marathon
Posted by Admin2 in Races & Reports on August 23rd, 2010
Beckenham were well represented at the Henfield half marathon yesterday. Here’s a link to the results. Special mentions to Stuart who ran a sub 90 minute time ( I admit I had to do a double take when I saw that…or did someone else run with his number,
).
If anyone wants to elaborate on the weekend further, feel free..
Hello Sailor

This is getting boring now… well done (again) to Jim Addison who continues to knock chunks of his PB’s.
Stressing that he’s a married man (although that hasn’t stopped many an MP and Judges alike) he wore his pink number with “pride” at the Pride 10k at Victoria Park on Saturday (you were two day’s late, the Assembly League was Thursday
)
He kept up with ‘front runners’ and ran 34:16 beating his old PB by about 3 seconds finishing 9th, click here for the Results. Nice one.
Do Run, Can Run….
Posted by Admin2 in Coaching & Running Advice, Everything Else, Races & Reports on August 2nd, 2010
Eight weeks ago a few intrepid beginner runners answered the call Don’t Run? Can’t Run? and set out on Beckenham’s inaugural beginners’ running course. Well, eight weeks on, we’re pleased to report that on Saturday at the Bromley Parkrun the following beginners graduated with honours, all completing the 5k course:
Congratulations go to…..
Debbie Sawyer,
Sharon Wells,
Sue Green,
and Karen Mortenson.
We hope you enjoyed yourselves and will keep on running.
We hope to run another course later in the year, keep an eye out here for further details.
*Edit: And special praises and well dones to Nicky who put in all the hard work to set it up and organise the course, and to anyone else who helped out*

Well dones to Jim Addison & Mel Burdett for collecting new 5k PB’s
Jim continued his good form by collecting a shiny new 5k pb at Serpentines last Friday of the month 5k in his lunch hour. He ran 16:38 & 6th place which is a whopping 80.9% age grading! I wish I was well old!
Mel, at the Bromley Park Run ran 19:32 to finish in 2nd to easily beat her previous best of 19:48.

Grand Prix Cliffe Woods 10k: Beckenham Team Hat Trick
Posted by Admin2 in Grand Prix, Races & Reports on July 12th, 2010
Now that Wills wetted your appetite, now for the results in all their racemaster 98 glory…
Numbers were down for this one thanks to holidays, mates weddings (I’m not boycotting the Grand Prix Honest!) and maybe the very hot weather…. But for those that went and for the for the third GP race in a row the mens and ladies teams took the team prizes, with a number of highly respectable performances. Welcomes and well dones to David Scrimshaw (41:25) and Amy Bhandari (58:10) who made their Beckenham racing debuts.
There’s abit of a summer break with the next road race on the 5th September at the Weald 10k (Sevenoaks) followed a week later by the Eridge 10 (voted Runners World no1 race for 2009!) and is part of the Cross Country Prix.
Assembly League Dome race 4 of 6, July 2010
Posted by Admin2 in Assembly League, Races & Reports on July 8th, 2010
Race results for the Assembly League Dome 5.1K , the last bastion of the type writer is no more as they’ve been typed up on a computer
Race news however, the mens team did fantastically well… er not, with only Craig and Nolan running, we still sit in 6th, with an outside chance of catching Dulwich (if they fail to put out a team!), what more incentive do you need to come & run next time guys!
The ladies managed to field a team and gave it there all in the hot & humid conditions, with Anika a disturbing bright shade of red at the end and Kate ready to heave.
Next race, back to Victoria Park Thursday 12 August 2010 for a 7:15 start.

147. Andrew Hinds 00:51:00
182. Nicky Howard 00:52:58
260. Ruth Bunn 00:58:58
Grand Prix Latest June 2010
Posted by Admin2 in Grand Prix, Races & Reports on July 4th, 2010
Jim writes…..
Here’s the Grand Prix 2010 tables End June 2010 updated following the Eltham and Dulwich events (Eltham also counting to the cross country grand prix). Next event is Cliffe Woods on Sunday. More people turned out for the June events so hopefully that will continue.
Headlines in terms of the latest standings following the June events are:
Main grand prix
* no changes to the leaders with Jim, Richard S and Gail leading the 3 divisions, but…
* first division – Simon stormed up to second giving Richard S some competition
* second division – Ken moved smartly up to second and Ian just moved ahead of Ameet
Age grading
* better % all round with now 14 rather than 11 club members in the average 70-80% range
* Craig with a rare 80+% for the club puts him above Richard S into third
* Helen first lady now ahead of Marc into 6th (and Stuart a new entry between the two of them)
Cross country grand prix
* Mel consolidating her lead in the ladies with Gail and Helen fighting it out for second
* Jim leading the men’s with Ben just behind and Simon in a safe third
I’ve not included the age % for the cross-country as the races vary so much in terms of terrain that a % is not really comparable. It works fine though for the main grand prix. And it means only 3 leagues to think about. If you want me to reinstate it though please say
