Will Bolton Relay

Posted by Jim

Results are up for the  Will Bolton Relay

Well done everyone. Great to get 5 teams out and to do well compared to last couple of years. Out of 54 teams the mens teams 7th (only beaten by Tonbridge A-D and BandB AandB) and 18th and 38th and the women’s teams 45th and 51st (9th and 14th out of 15 women’s teams).

Looking at the last couple of years each of, Chris L, Ben, Stuart, Gail, me all did a minute quicker than our last outing.

Edit: It should also be noted that mens A team beat a fair number of other clubs A teams, and also well done to Hazel and Rachel who lost their cross county cherry.

Eridge 10 Trail Race

Flippen eck that was hard, but well worth it. If you haven’t done it before then you should, it’s a great race over the hills, mud and bogs of the Eridge Estate…I think we got off lightly this year as it’s been relatively dry so it wasn’t as muddy as it could have been. Saying that I still managed to lose my shoe in ‘Cheeky’s Bog’…. and thanks to Will for the great support… (he only turned up after we’d finished to grab some free cake!)
Results can be found here..

Cross Country

Two things:

1) Next week, Saturday 18/9 2:45pm is the Will Bolton memorial 4x4k at Sparrows Den. Please email me by Monday 13/9 noon to let me know if you can run. Had a good response from the men but need more ladies!

2) Also please let me know if you’d like to be registered for the Kent League XC races even if you don’t think you’ll make it to all of them. Cost is £2 per runner which covers all the races, bargain! Races listed under the fixtures tab above.

Thanks

Assembly League Race 6 of 6 Beckenham 2010.

Here are the results from the final Assembly League race of 2010.  Overall the men finished 8th and the ladies finished 7th, we could have done much better had we full strength teams out for all the fixtures. But well done to Clare Elms (everyones favourite 2nd claimer) for taking the ladies title… but at least Beckenham finished with a flourish thanks to a good turn out for the final fixture, as evident below…

Weald 10k results

are here

A warm sunny day greeted the runners in the village of the Weald.  Times where down as the course had a big hill at the end.

Well done Mel, our only prize winner with top vet.  We also hope Ken has recovered from his collision with a cyclist on the course.  Eridge next week – who will get injured there?

Run Britain’s New Handicap System

Whilst munching on my lunchtime sarnies, I stumbled across this Run Britain. Thought it quite interesting. Run Britain in association with everyones favourite running/stalking website Power of 10, has developed a handicap ranking system which takes into account the runners, races, and times over a the year and gives them a handicap score. (Don’t think it does age and gender) Here’s the official blurb….

‘The runbritain handicap scoring system is a unique way of measuring your progress and comparing yourself with other runners.

As in golf, handicaps go from scratch (zero, or even slightly negative for elite runners) to 36 with increments of 0.1.

To compute your handicap we take a combination of your recent best performances at 5K, 10K, Half Marathon & Marathon but adjusted for course difficulty and weather conditions using our special formulae.

This means that you can improve your handicap at any race as on harder courses you won’t need to run quite as quickly as on faster ones.’

I had a quick look at the results for some of us, there’s loads more but haven’t time to list everyone…for now. Plus if you log in you have a chance to add some of your races that don’t automatically show up which may effect your scores…….Happy stalking!

Chris Minns 0.9
Jim Addison 1.4
Clare Elms 3.2
Nolan Wilkens 3.9
Richard Selway 4.9
Will Withecombe 5.3
Marc Clayton 5.5
Mel Burdett 8.2
Helen Garrett 10.0
Anika Jones 10.2
Kate Marchant 11.3
