Bromley Vets 5 XC race, Great Bentley Half Marathon

Beckenham sent an elite squad of vets to the Bromley vets 5 mile race this weekend, as modesty prevents Andy from bragging… I’m pleased to inform you all that the spritely trio of Stuart Scott, Andy Hinds and Ken Baksh won the team prize! Gail also took 2nd place in the lady race. Congratulations.

Elsewhere Will and Mel ran the Great Bentley Half marathon 1:25 and 1:34, I think Will has been lying to us about his age…he’s clearly 37! Results

Anyone else race?

Well done to Carl Ferri who ran the Kent Master Cross Country race at the weekend and came 3rd in the V40 race! Maybe next year it could be a race for the vets at the club to target, as I’m sure we’d do well in the team stakes….

Kent League XC Race 3 Sparrows Den

A great turn out of 16 runners took part in the latest round of the Kent League Cross Country. In the four to score competition strong runs from Chris Minns, Stephen Thackeray, Carl Ferri and Jim Addison collected a score of 105 points, just beating the previous best of 108  from last months race. It was enough for 5th place on the day, and put’s Beckenham 6th overall. We also had enough runners out to qualify for the 12 man competition, coming 4th out of 6 teams. All in all a very pleasing day, long may the new enthusiasm for cross country continue…… next up, the Kent Championships 7/1, I’m sending off the form at the end of the week. If you want to put your name down contact me ASAP! Full results
